MarshMellows, J-ello, Skittles and Starburst, just to name a few...?

The candies above all contain gelatin.

Gelatin is made up of alot of things, pig skin, parts of cow and horse bone, animal intestinal tissue, just to name a few.

This would obviously keep vegitarians away from these foods, but if you are meat eater...

Does this bother you?

After reading this are you gonna eat those foods again?

  1. Mmmm...Yes, I love Starburst! I could do without the rest though.

It doesn't bother me though. I've been eating this stuff all my life, most of us have. C'mon we all ate Jello jigglers as kids and we are alive and well.

  2. I'm a vegetarian but all my meat-eating friends and family still eat those candies without it bothering them.

I personally find it a tad bit disgusting that people love meat so much, that they even put it in candies. Yuck yuck!

  3. As an omnivore, no it doesn't bother me at all.

It sure bothered another vegetarian, though, when I pointed out that there is a derivative from meat in ice cream, though! (one of those unpronounceable ingredients...)

Actually, jellied pigs feet and hocks is a delectable gourmet food item from Eastern Europe, and is quite delish!

  4. Yup, well not the Jello Skittles and Starburst but when I want to splurge I do enjoy vegan marshmallows, and they contain no cow hooves or horse bones. I also do on occasion eat other vegetarian and vegan goodies like gummy bears and jelly beans not made from gelatin.
