Wellington had amassed 406 runs in their first innings after being put into bat by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Marshall-c1650. In reply, Northern Districts managed 142 runs for the loss of three wickets.
The wicket did have some moisture beneath it, which forced Marshall to field first. However, the conditions eased out as the match progressed.
Day-two was started by the Wellington batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Joe-Austin-Smellie-c1709 on 227 for 5. Both batsmen were unbeaten on 19 and 25 respectively. The pair took their team’s total over 250, with a solid 68 run partnership. However, Austin-Smellie failed
to capitalize on the start, and he got out after scoring 37 runs.
The fall of wicket brought Jeetan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Huzefa-Mohammed-Patel-c63657 at the crease, and he batted well along with Rhodes, as the pair constructed 60 runs for the seventh wicket. Rhodes fell after scoring a solid half-century. He scored 56 runs for his team.
However, Patel started playing aggressive cricket, and smashed the ball to all parts of the park. He was unfortunate to be dismissed just one run short of a century. Patel struck eight fours and four towering sixes in his innings of 99 runs.

The start to the innings wasn’t good for the Northern Districts, as they lost a couple of wicket early. Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Flynn-c1309 also failed to make an impression,
as he was dismissed after scoring six runs.
However, Bradley Watling and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamish-Marshall-c1525 played sensibly and rescued their team from trouble. They scored 55 runs for the third wicket and took their score close to 100 runs. However, Watling got out after constructing 47 runs.
James Marshall walked out in the middle to join his brother Hamish, and the brothers scored another half-century stand for their team until close of play to guide their team to 147. Hamish was unbeaten on 60 whereas; James was batting on 21 when the umpires
called the day off.
Mark Gellespie, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-John-McKay-c44446 took one wicket each for their team, and they will be looking forward to get a few more quick wickets in the first session of play tomorrow.
