Question:

Marshall for Turner?

Would you trade Brandon Marshall for Michael Turner even if you were thin at WR? RBs have higher value in fantasy sports and Marshall is a headcase waiting to be suspended while Turner has the makings of a fantasy stud.

Do you gamle you can find help at WR via FA and pull the trigger, or do you hang onto Javon Walker II?

  1. If I were thin at WR, no, I would not trade for a hit and miss running back. They said the same thing about Nerwood last year. The Falcons suck, though, and don't look to be any better this year. Turner's a much bigger risk than Marshall. What you are saying about Marshall is the same thing people said about Chad Johnson and Randy Moss. Hmm...

  2. You are wise to be reluctant about Brandon Marshall.

He has multiple domestic assualt charges pending in Georgia, and his DUI case from October 2007 will be heard soon.

It's almost impossible that he'll avoid some manner of suspension from the Broncos or the NFL.

I have Michael Turner myself, and I have some doubts.  He is the starter, and will be making a lot of money.  However, the Falcons will have a rookie QB, and have no proven playmakers outside of Roddy White.  Even Alge Crumpler is gone.  Turner will have tough sledding.

Still, I would probably rather have a flex-spot worthy running back than the head case, and you can always find waiver wire prospects at WR.  Every year there is one or two who blossom to fantasy success.

It is a gamble, but Turner is a safer bet.

  3. Michael Turner is on a team with no offensive line and not much of a passing threat to give him some room.  He will be lucky to break 800 yards and 5 td's.  On the other hand Marshall is the main weapon on Denver with a decent QB throwing him the ball.  Sure he might be TO the second but he could be TO the second on the field as well as off. If you trade Marshall for Turner, you are nuts.

  4. Turner has the talent to be a stud, but the Falcons offense doesn't have many weapons and he will be sharing at least some carries with Jerrious Norwood. That alone wouldn't keep me from making the Marshall deal - it depends on what else you have at RB and WR. But if you are already weak at WR I'd probably hang onto Marshall.
