Marshim expected to earn second straight success
Just four days ago, Marshim marvellously won the Casey Cattle Slats Handicap Hurdle (Div I) at Wexford. This grand victory has boosted up his morale greatly. Today, the W. Power trained bay gelding will run the 49 Euro Panoramic Restaurant Package Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown with high spirit and sheer confidence in a bid to add second straight success to his portfolio.
The form that the ten-year-old veteran horse picked up in April 2012 will lend a great hand to him in this race as well. If wins the €5,520 race, this will be the Irish gelding’s first Punchestown success.
The racecourse of 2 miles and 4 furlongs has soft surface. This is likely to be a bit disturbing for Marshim, but he can handle it if runs meticulously.
The brilliant gelding picked up some miraculous momentum with the dawn of 2012. In his very first race of the season on April 8, he elegantly broke his maiden. That was the Jim Harney Publican, Dun Hill & Billy Bourke Fish Merchant 5yo+ Confined Maiden.
After a couple of average performances, the son of Supreme Leader out of Kingsmar finished as the runner-up in Curracloe Handicap Hurdle that went down at Wexford on June 20.
In the month of September, the Peter Wall owned horse stood second in two back-to-back races entitled as Cashen Handicap Hurdle and Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle. Both were run at Listowel.
Marshim’s second career win came on October 27. These stats reveal that the skilled horse is carrying a lot of momentum these days. If he manages to channelize it properly, he will be able to thrive today.
However, Followmeuptocarlow can prove to be fatal enough for him. The T. Donohue trained and owned bay gelding broke his maiden by winning the Bet With The Tote Handicap Hurdle at Down royal on February 1. He finished 4th in another big race during the same month.
Since then, the Irish runner has been out of action. In today’s contest, he will try hard to hamper Marshim, thus, a tough battle is imminent between the two geldings. Good luck to them.
