Marta Domachowska outsmarts Hyojung Yea in qualifying 1st round – Hansol Korea Open 2011
Polish Marta Domachowska outwitted Korean Hyojung Yea in the qualifying first round of the Hansol Korea Open on outdoor hard courts of the Olympic Tennis Courts in Seoul, South Korea on the 17th of September 2011. After just 48
minutes of the match the Pole won in straight sets of 6-2, and bagel (6-0) victory.
Opening the first game of the set was the Pole, who struck a backhand winner at 40-30 and not only did she clog the first game but also got an upper hand.
Yea was only able to win one game on her serve as she tied the score at one game each. After that, it was Domachowska who held her serve in the third game and in the fourth broke Yea for the first time to take the lead at 3-1.
Domachowska was unable to hold her serve in the fifth game as she had double faulted at 30-40 and was broken for the first time.
However, she jumped back into the game as she was still a break up from Yea and by the sixth broke back her adversary to restore her lead at 4-2.
In the seventh game Domachowska held her serve and in the eighth game was looking to break her opponent. As Yea served to stay in the match, the Pole forced an error from her rival and broke her to take the opening set.
As Domachowska asserted the first set, she planned to do the same in the second set and luckily for her Yea’s failing defence paved the way.
Setting the tone for the second set, serving first was again the Pole and in the next 25 minutes she pounded her Korean challenger. The scoreboard was initiated by Domachowska as she comfortably held her serve in the opening game
but because of a weak defence Yea had numerous unforced errors and let herself be broken.
Domachowska took the advantage, as she was not only able to win on her serves but managed to break Yea on her serve too. Thus capitalizing on three break points Domachowska saw a speedy victory.
