  1. Not any Karate because that is very common and its is very easy to block.

100% Shaolin Kung Fu! I used to do Karate. I was a brown belt. Trust me dont take it up! Waste of money and time.

Shaolin Kung Fu is so hard to counter. The moves are crazy once you reach a high belt. It would be perfect for you!

  2. I take shotokan Karate. I wouldn't take Tai Chi because it is way to slow. I suggest shotokan.

  3. Cops have to punch, grapple, disarm people with modern weapons (gun, knife, bottle, bat, etc. ).  I teach Krav Maga, many law enforcement personnel come to seminars given by myself and my colleagues.

I also study Combat SAMBO with a man who used to teach KGB, he was Soviet Military, in both of our arts (Krav Maga and Combat SAMBO) modern weapon disarmament starts from day 1.  In my Combat SAMBO class we have many law enforcement personnel.  Many of my colleagues give LEO seminars (Law Enforcement Only).

Krav Maga and Combat SAMBO are both combat arts, not traditional martial arts, we have no ceremony, we are just about the business of surviving modern battlefield conditions.

I have many friend who were trained like me that went on to the Chinese Martial Arts (Kung Fu and Taiji) and they excel, but they also have this training from the Army (IDF) which makes many of us very survivable.

Look, there are many good arts out there, but for combat and survival we have to be practical, and modern weapons training is essential from day 1.  I also know a couple of Detectives who are great at CQB after years of Taiji, but the learning curve was steep.

  4. you said your a cop so i would suggest kyokushin karate wich is full contact karate its also very effective

  5. Lol at slow Tai Chi. I can just see someone in a real street fight against another style fighting in slow motion. Blocking punches a minute and a half after they landed.

You are right about Bolo. Have you seen the previews for Blizhniy Boy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wHnGgHzP...

What is Bolo now, like 70? Still looks bad to me.

  6. my brother inlaw is going to be a cop and we both thought that Inayan Eskrima would be a good one for cops to learn.

  7. Thats stupid.  You dont actually move slow when you apply tai chi you idiot.  What a silly thing to say.  Its too slow.  Bolo Yeng is a tai chi practitioner.  Is he to slow?
