  1. Don't worry about gaining weight just yet. Your body is still growing and you should allow it to grow naturally. At the earliest I would say you should begin working out around 16/17. If you work hard at your martial arts you won't need to be big anyway. That's what they're designed for.

  2. Most body builders and power lifters recommend not doing weights until 16 or 17. Arnold recommends in his book to do push ups, crunches, squats, pull ups all without weights. You can get a solid foundation so when your 16 or so you can go straight to weights easily. The main thing you need to do whether its weights or no wieght exercise is stay consistant. If you start an excerise routine make sure to try and do more repititions every day and don't ever skip working out. Set a schedule of 3 days a week doing 5 sets of as many push ups as you can do, 5 sets of 25 squats, 3 sets of 30 crunches and 5 sets of as many pull ups as you can do. If this is out of what you can do right now, just do your best and work your way up. When I was 15 I started doing a similar routine and got much stronger and started to see results. I started at doing 2 pushups and got up to 30. If you can do all of the above workout with good form, going ALL THE WAY DOWN you'll get much stronger.

  3. Its true that at your age you dont want to gain too much muscle.  But you can always benefit from some strength.  One thing you can do is once you have a form down real well...do it at a very slow pace and while your doing it flex whatever muscle your using as hard as you can.  For example...if you are punching, punch real slow and make your arm as hard as you can and hold the movement for a small count of maybe three or five - not too long cuz you do want to finish the form this way.  Any stance would be done slow and hard and then held before the next movement, punch  or kick for another count of 3 or 5.  remember to breath correctly.  imagine your arms and legs tied down to the ground and all over and your doing this form like that.  you want to make every movement as hard as possible.  your 13, you should a have a bright imagination.

Another thing to keep in mind is good old exercises like pushups and crunches, leg lifts, etc.  Exercises like these use your body weight so your not lifting anything that you aren't already lifting.  BUT you did say "easiest way possible"...and just to let you in on a secret...there is no "easy way".

  4. Charles Atlas dynamic tension, google it, find the site, and have a parent order it.  You are at just the right age to follow all his instructions as his fitness system was designed for teens whose muscles were still growing although it works for everyone.

    good luck.

  5. Don't worry too much about gaining weight and muscle. By the time you start reaching age 17, 18, 19, 20 your body naturally starts filling out. For now just train hard and maybe do some push ups, sit ups, etc if you really want to do something.

  6. There is no easy way.  There is the way that involves hard work and the way that involves harder work.

What is it with kids trying to do everything "easy" and get it for "free?"
