  1. Systema (another Russian fighting style), Krav Maga, some Filipino martial arts style may not have styles, and BJJ.

I studied styles that had Katas, and give all credit to my fighting ability to those katas.

A kata is kinda like a structured shadow boxing routine for those who don't know how to shadow box. They impose the proper stances that build leg muscles for balance and leg techniques. Those who train without katas require someone there to practice on, while if you don't have thatluxuryy you can perform a kata. So they are not bad, just more often than not trained improperly.

  2. you need to be 3rd dan to grade people bellow first dan and there are many other arts in which they do not use kata such as kickboxing, boxing, brazilian jiu jitsu, aikido, muay thai (not too sure), sambo, wrestling, and many more...

  3. I just wanna make you aware that a blackbelt is called a  dan and not a kyu (a kyu is a low level belt such as yellow or orange or green in Judo)

I believe you must have at least 1st dan to be allowed to teach independantly but I am really not sure since i have yet to get there.

Judo does use katas and they improve abilitry a lot when done correctly.

Im sorry I couldnt be more helpful

  4. My favorites are Sambo(Russian Fighting System) and Pekiti Tirsia Kali(Filipino Fighting System). For all the karate stuff, don't know and don't care.
