Is it handy, messy... What is it all about. I'm just used to regular cages, aquariums with toppers and bin cages, but my rats need a bigger home and I have heard that Martins cages are best

  1. ya they are simple wire cages which are very safe and pretty much escape proof. the drop in pan is just they bedding pan at they bottom of the cage.

  2. drop in pan is just to mean a normal base. versus a slide out pan being a mesh floor with a pan underneath that slides out for cleaning. a drop in pan you'd have to take off of the cage. that's all. and yeah. their cages are awesome. for rats get the drop in. if you get slide out, you'd still have to cover the floor so it defeats the purpose.
