Martin Aspinwall is suspended by Hull FC – Rugby League news
Hull FC have suspended Martin Aspinwall, their eighth signing of the 2012 season, on December 19. The suspension will come into effect immediately.
The details and reason behind this extreme measure has not been disclosed as yet. Hull FC’s latest uptake which took place on November 10, from the Castleford Tigers, has not played any game with them until now. It has been revealed that this signing was
made just day after Sam Obst left the club.
Aspinwall started his career with the Huddersfield Giants as a winger where he moved to fill in the second-rower’s position. Before joining in with Hulls on a one-year deal, the player had played with the Wigan, Huddersfield, Castleford and Great Britain.
Hulls’ latest signing did not support a clean record. In June, he was handed in the four-month prison sentence for dangerous driving.
When Hull recruited Aspinwall they had huge hopes clung to the rugby league talent, who was lauded not only for his on-field brilliance but was also recognised for his ability to prove himself by making a fresh start.
While expressing his views about former Castleford, the Hull director of Rugby Shaun McRae said, “We have a player in Martin that doesn't just possess plenty of ability as a footballer but a character with a point to prove and someone who is keen to make
the most of a fresh start and make an impression at a new club. He adds competition for places and extra depth in an area of the team we wanted to strengthen, as well as bringing a level of aggression and fierceness that we think will compliment the qualities
of the players around him.”
Aspinwall, who had also played for the Grand Final and the Challenge Cup final for Wigans, said that it was very humbling for him to play with a club of that high a stature. He admitted that he felt that he was privileged for being associated to the club
of such rich traditions. He went on and said that he wanted to make the most of it.
It remains a mystery why the player has been ousted from Hull before even he could embark on his journey with them.
