http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 to reschedule domestic fixtures – Cricket News Update
Former New Zealand skipper and star batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christopher-Alroy-Martin-c50714 Crowe, has advised his national cricket authorities to reschedule the First-Class completions, which are set to be held later in January 2012, and organise them earlier during the holiday season so that
the players get tuned up for their upcoming Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
Crowe recommends the Black Caps to prioritise 4-day games to the limited-over matches at the domestic level. He opines that the First-Class format should be the centre of attention for the Kiwis if they want to excel in the international arena.
However, he also suggested to accommodate 20-over fixtures too so that the cricket managers and the player earn money.
Talking to the media today, the ex-captain said, “If you want to play good Test cricket, like we did [in Hobart], then schedule everything around first-class cricket. You can still fit in the commercial competitions that bring in the money, but we've got
a problem when our next first-class match in this country is the Test in late January.”
Martin strongly believes that the reason of the Aussies’ fall from grace is lack of First-Class cricket and more focus on the limited-over versions. He claims that if the Kiwis do the same, they can never perk up.
He told, “That's where http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 have dropped the ball in recent years, with their emphasis on Twenty20, just like we have."
Crowe’s comments have come in the backdrop of his national team’s outstanding victory over the Baggy Greens in a Test match at Hobart. In last week’s game, the Ross Taylor-led side demonstrated excellent fighting spirit and beat the opponents by 7 runs after
a rip-roaring competition. This triumph refreshed the Kiwis’ fazed fervency and made them realise that if they work on this format, they can achieve landmark success.
Crowe, who played 77 Test and 143 ODI matches during his international career, is sure that the Black Caps have potential to earn a fair name in Test cricket, but they need to show diligence in the domestic cricket. Some other former players and cricket
experts have also forwarded similar proposals to the Kiwi cricket bosses.
