Martin Gould trashes Stephen Maguire to claim 2012 UKPTC Event 2
After a successful finish to the first event of the UK Players Tour Championship (UKPTC), the potters from around the world gathered at the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester in England to take part in the 2012 UKPTC Event 2. The potters produced some
outstanding snooker clashes during the tournament proceedings.
With outstanding performance in the initial stages of the event, England’s Martin Gould and winner of the first UKPTC event, Scotland’s Stephen Maguire made their way into the final encounter of the event where Gould was able to trounce Maguire in the final
by the score line of 4-3 after a tussling game. The contest proceeded the way it was expected from both potters as they went neck-and-neck from the beginning.
First session of the match finished equally at 2-2 as both cuemen were tremendous on the baize and did not let each other take any advantage in the beginning. However, the second session was the same as the first but eventually Gould dominated the table
with classy snooker genius and claimed the title.
The first frame of the match was taken by the Scottish potter as he fired a classy break of 64 to hit the frame victory by the score line of 0-80 to grab early lead of 0-1. Gould replied terrifically in the second frame and fired a smashing break of 65 to
pull level at 1-1. The players were cashing every opportunity to nudge each other down so that they can hit the title victory.
Gould could compile only nine points in the third frame while Maguire swept the table with 68 points to lead the match again by 1-2. The Englishman did not take it easy and responded with fourth frame win and equalised the score once again by the score line
of 2-2. The first frame finished at the end of fourth frame and the players went inside to make new strategies for the second session.
The second session began with a tough frame but Gould eventually triumphed by the score of 69-62. The Scot took the sixth set by 22-65 to move one frame up at 3-3 and push the match into the decisive frame where Gould cruised into victory by 57-42 to grasp
the UKPTC2 trophy.
