Martin Grodzki seizes Men’s 1500m freestyle gold: Day five – German Olympic Trials
Martin Grodzki of SSC Berlin-Reinickendorf seized the title of Men’s 1500m freestyle in the open category on fifth day of the 2012 German Olympic Trials in Berlin on May 14.
Grodzki stunned the aquatic crowd with his impeccable efforts in the 1500m discipline. With his meticulous efforts, he enjoyed a comfortable lead over his strongest challenger and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal.
His nerve-wrecking form placed him considerably ahead of his challengers and he ended his swim in a fastest time of 15 minutes and 10.47 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Soren Meibner of SV Wurzburg 05, who remained almost eight seconds slower from him and settled on the finishing wall for silver medal with the timing of 15 minutes and 18.39 seconds.
With his immaculate effort, he remained just 0.07 seconds ahead of his team-member, Jan Wolfgarten, who proved his mettle for third position of the discipline by reporting a nice time of 15 minutes and 18.46 seconds.
Wolfgarten was followed by Rob Muffels of Swim-Team Elmshorn, who was almost five seconds apart and hit the finishing end for fourth position with an effort of 15 minutes and 23.08 seconds.
Muffels was chased by Christian Kubusch of SC Magdeburg, who surfaced on the finishing end for fifth position of the event by posting a time of 15 minutes and 27.29 seconds.
Sixth position of the event was obtained by Maximilian Bock of Potsdamer SV, who remained about four seconds apart and posted an effort of 15 minutes and 31.21 seconds.
Seventh best spot of the event was obtained by Robert Nuble of Erfurter SSC, who remained almost three seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end by submitting a time of 15 minutes and 34.86 seconds.
Nuble was followed Manuel Schwarz of SG Frankfurt, who secured eighth position of the event by producing a time of 15 minutes and 36.22 seconds.
In addition, Grodzki was overjoyed with his phenomenal efforts in the distant freestyle event and claimed that he will try to impress his supporters by achieving the same at higher levels of swimming.
