Martin Johnson announces England’s match day squad for upcoming world cup encounter against Georgia
England national Rugby Union team has announced the match day 22 for their second 2011 Rugby World Cup (RWC) pool match against Georgia. England team manager, Martin Johnson, has listed the
squad on Saturday, September 17.
The governing body of the Rugby Union in England, Rugby Football Union (RFU), has also confirmed the rroster in a statement released on their website on Saturday, September 17, for the match
to be played at Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin on Sunday, September 18.
Johnson has made nine changes in his starting xv as compare to the England’s squad, which took the field in their 2011 RWC opener against the Argentina at same venue on Saturday, September
10.
Speaking on the occasion, Johnson added that he is vary of the threat the Georgian outfit is capable of delivering some good performances. He added that his unit is focused for the task, and
has worked hard for the Sunday’s game. He said, “Georgia are direct, physical and have some very good players so we’ve never been under any illusions about the challenge of this game.”
Commenting on his match day squad, Johnson added, “There are nine guys who didn’t start [against Argentina] so they’ll be determined to make the best of it and do it together as a team.” He
further added his team is coming out from and eight day break and are feeling fresh for the game.
Besides other changes, Johnson has named England’s RWC team captain Lewis Moody in the starting XV. Moody missed England’s last few matches due to the injury, as he will make his comeback in
the Sunday’s game at the flanker position.
Commenting on Moody, Johnson added, “It’s great to have Lewis out there; he’s captain for a reason and brings a lot to the team in terms of leadership and setting a great example.”
The only unchanged players for England, which took the field against the Pumas in their last weekend encounter against Pumas include fullback Ben Foden, right-winger Chris Ashton, outside centre
Manu Tuilagi, right-winger Delon Armitage, number eight Nick Easter and prop Dan Cole.
The England’s squad for their upcoming 2011 RWC encounter against the Georgia consists of,
