Martin Jol delighted with Fulham’s performance against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233
Fulham manager, Martin Jol has gone on to reveal that he is more than delighted by the way his team performed in the Europa League last night and feels that his side deserved to come out of the game with all three points.
Fulham took a very early lead in the game, following some rather poor defending by Twente. However, following the goal, Twente started to put the pressure on Fulham and managed to break the English side’s resilience just before the end of the first half.
During the second half of the game, Fulham came out from the tunnel and looked to take the game to their opponents. They went on to create a number of goal scoring opportunities, but failed to hit the target again. At the same time, with Twente beefing up
their defence, the game ended with both sides being level at one goal apiece.
Martin Jol is one of the many people associated with the club, who feel that the team should have picked up the win in the game, since that is what they deserve based on their performance.
Following the conclusion of the game, Jol is quoted to have said: “I felt that we couldn’t do more than we did the first half”
“Everything went well, we were pressing at the right times and we scored a goal.
“We were playing good football though in the second half it was different. We tried to force the issue and we gave them space to hit us on the break, which they did a couple of times.
“If you don’t score goals easily enough, you have to try and keep your shape.”
This victory has also gone on to be the twenty first game that Fulham have played in Europe without picking up a defeat. This record would have been rather extraordinary in normal circumstances, but given that the team have not managed to win any of their
last five games, it raises a few concerns.
Fulham’s last three games have all ended in draws ad Jol isn’t too happy with those results. However, he does still feel that his side have been the better team on every single one of those occasions.
“Three home matches and three draws and I have to say that we were the better team every time,” said Jol.
Fulham are now going to look to end their victory less streak as they head in the weekend fixtures in the Premier League. Given the team’s superb performance in midweek, the Cottagers are more than likely to pick up a couple of points this time around.
