Martin Jol delighted with Fulham’s performance once again – Premier League Update
Fulham manager Martin Jol has gone on to admit that he is highly delighted with his sides performance against West Brom, despite the game ending as a goal less draw.
Jol has gone on to appreciate his side over the last couple of weeks and feels that his players give more on the pitch now, than they ever did beore.
At the same time, Fulham are well known for having a very poor track record in away games, which is why the solitary point that they picked up really helped boost the team’s morale.
Jol, when talking about his team and their performance on the night is quoted to have said:
"I think in the first half, you can't play better than we did"
"With our possession, it looked like a home game for us to be honest.
"That was new for us. We controlled the game, and we had to. They had their first opportunity in probably the 64th minute, that says it all.
"But we were sloppy in the second half and we gave them the initiative. If you're playing an away game, you have to perform."
The manager then revealed that he was more happy about the fact that the team could adjust to the changes that he had made, considering a number of key players were missing in action for the game.
Roy Hodgson, who is now West Brom’s manager, but managed Fulham in the past, went on to agree with Martin Jol, as he admitted to Fulham being the far superior side during the game.
The manager stated that the game was about two teams who defended throughout the night, but at the end of the day, it was Fulham who defended much better than West Brom.
Hodgson then admitted to his side being lucky to pick up one point from the game, since the last time they took to the field trying to pick up one point, they ended up losing and hence avoiding the possibility to pick up any points from the game.
In the short time that Jol has spent with Fulham, he has gone on to transfer the team into a well oiled machine. Every time the team steps onto the pitch, they give a hundred and ten percent and look to almost always pick up all three points.
The team’s defence has become rock solid and their attack seems to finally be ticking perfectly. All in all, it seems like Fulham found a gem of a manager in Jol, who is bound to try and push the team for a European spot.
