Martin Jol: no Fulham bid for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mounir-El-Hamdaoui-c26905 – Eredivisie news
Fulham boss, Martin Jol, had been heavily linked to sign Ajax Amsterdam’s Mounir El Hamdaoui, but Jol has downplayed speculations regarding the Moroccan International’s arrival at Craven Cottage.
El Hamdaoui has played under the leadership of the Dutch trainer during his stay with Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax. Rumours were rife that the Dutchman would be launching a bid to sign the striker in the coming days, as the Whites boss remains a great admirer of the Moroccan ace.
Furthermore, with the management clearly stating that they have no intentions of keeping the 26-year-old, chances of the troubled star reuniting with his former boss remain very high.
However, Jol has now denied making a move for the technically gifted striker, revealing that his side already have four strikers; there is no room for another forward to come in.
“I’ve got, for example, Bobby http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zamora-c40983, who, if he played for another team, you would be interested in him as a No.9. I’ve got Andy Johnson, I’ve got [Clint] Dempsey playing on the left, but he can play in the spine as well. I’ve got [Moussa] Dembele, so I’ve got four players there in these two positions.”
“In addition, there isn’t any club coming in for our players, so I’m very happy with them. Mounir is a very good player, one of the best finishers I’ve seen, but as the situation is now, I’ve got four strikers”, Jol said in a press conference.
The Moroccan International arrived at Amsterdam Arena at the start of the 2010/11 season and performed impressively under Jol’s tutelage. However, after Frank de Boer took over at Ajax in December 2010, the 26-year-old’s performances took a battering.
To add further to his misery, the Moroccan ace was demoted to the reserves squad earlier this year after a dispute with De Boer. His future with the Eredivisie champions has remained under clouds ever since.
El Hamdaoui’s current contract with Ajax runs until the summer of 2012 and reports suggest that an offer in the region of 5 million Euros would be enough to lure the striker away from the Amsterdam Arena.
