Martin Kampmann is not interested in seeing Georges St-Pierre fight Anderson Silva – UFC News
While every UFC fan is hoping for Georges St-Pierre to defeat interim champion Carlos Condit at UFC 154 to take on middleweight champion Anderson Silva next, Martin Kampmann is not excited with the entire scenario. According to Kampmann, a fight between
GSP and Silva would not be as huge as it is being expected. He believes Silva will easily overpower GSP.
“I think [St-Pierre] is going to get knocked out,” said Martin in interview with ESPN. “That's my honest answer. Everything aside, I'd much rather see Anderson Silva fight Jon Jones. [Silva] is calling out the smaller guy. I'd like to see him fight Jon Jones.
I think that's a much more interesting fight, and that's not just from my personal perspective. It's also from a fan's perspective.”
The possibility of a fight between Anderson Silva and light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is also on the cards but it is something the ‘Spider’ is not fond of. While Dana White and others desperately want to see Jones vs. Silva, the latter is more fond
of fighting GSP. According to Silva, he would only fight Jones if White gives him 50% of UFC’s shares. Of course, Silva knows that is not possible and probably that is the reason why he kept it in front of White. For Silva, a fight against Jones is nigh impossible
while president Dana White believes it will happen.
For the time being, Silva is focusing on scheduling a fight against GSP and so is Dana White. According to White, 2013 will be a year of super-fights for the UFC and it would be started with GSP vs. Silva. For now, every fan is hoping for GSP to score a
victory against Condit so that UFC’s first super-fight takes shape.
However, there are always those who believe ‘other things’ are better than the ones that are happening. Martin Kampmann is among those who believe GSP will not be able to stand toe to toe against Silva and so the fight should never happen. He wants Jon Jones
to take on Silva to make it a more competitive showdown.
