Martin Kaymer and Padraig Harrington open strongly in Dubai
Former top ranked player from Germany, Martin Kaymer shot a bogey free round at the Jumeirah Golf Club. Kaymer registered a score of five-under 67 in the first round of DP World Tour Championship.
It was a nice start to the tournament for Kaymer, who has had an average season this year. The German would be hoping to end the season on a high note with a strong finish at the DP World Tour Championship.
Kaymer would be hoping to sign off with a victory at the Jumeirah Club. He was ranked 28th on the Race to Dubai standings coming to in to this tournament.
Although his recent form is average, the German is capable of anything on his day.
Padraig Harrington is coming off from a terrible week. However, it seems that the Irishman left everything behind him before taking to the field in Dubai.
The Irishman shot a magnificent round of five-under 67 at the Jumeirah Golf Club. It was a round which was desperately needed to put things back on track for Harrington.
Harrington is ranked 38th on the Race to Dubai standings, but he is capable of much more than that on the field.
Unlike Kaymer, Harrington could not shoot a bogey free round. His round included five birdies and a lone bogey on the second hole.
However, Martin Kaymer’s round included five birdies. He started his round cautiously, scoring just one birdie on the front nine but he raised his game on back nine, carding four birdies.
Meanwhile, Peter Lawrie has shot four-under 68 in his round at the DP World Tour Championship. Lawrie, another Irishman, has been in decent form this season.
Lawrie had an eventful first round, although he could not shoot a flawless one. The Irishman shot seven birdies and three bogeys in his round of 68.
In fact, he opened with a bogey but bounced back quickly with two birdies on the next two holes.
Rising Scot, Ramsay Richie has also shot a decent round of 67. It was a brilliant round from the Scot, as he shot five birdies in his round of 67.
