Liverpool’s English full-back, Martin Kelly has urged his team to look past their humiliating defeat at the hands of West Ham and focus instead on their upcoming game with the Red Devils.
Liverpool went on to suffer a rather humiliating defeat by the Hammers, which saw them lose out to West Ham by three goals to one, this past weekend.
However, despite the side being well beaten all ends up in the game, Kelly still strongly feels that his team-mates can bounce back and get their season back on track once again.
When talking about the game, and keeping in mind that United were the team’s next opponents, Kelly is reported to have said, "We were all disappointed with the result and our performance on Sunday and we’ve got to put this behind us and look forward to the big game against Manchester United at Anfield."
"It’s at home, we will have our fans behind us and hopefully we can give them the result we all want."
In the match against West Ham, Kelly went on to suffer a knock to his leg, late in the second half and after showing some serious discomfort, was replaced by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694. This substitution proved to have ultimately decided the outcome of the game for the Reds, as after losing a defender and brining on a creative midfielder instead, they seemed to just fall off their axis. This was because the team just couldn’t adapt to the loss of a defensive player and the addition of an attacker.
Nonetheless, what is more important to the club in the long-run, is the fact that their upcoming star didn’t manage to injure himself quite severely.
When referring to his injury, Kelly went on to state, "I knew straight away I had injured my hamstring. I'm usually a quick healer and we have good medical staff at the club so hopefully I will be back soon. I will have the scan and hopefully it won’t be too bad."
However despite having stated that he was bound to recover sooner rather than later, it was recently revealed that the extent of his injury was more severe than initially thought to be and that the player will be out for around a month.
This news has obviously come as a blow for Liverpool, who will now have to completely re-think their formation, since without Kelly the 3-5-2 will just not be possible any more. This also means that the team will now have to re-think their approach to taking on Manchester United this weekend, a task by no means easy.
