Former Arsenal defender, Martin Keown has gone on to urge http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 to stick around at the Emirates, as he thinks it would be a great mistake for him to leave the club.
Following Van Persie’s decision to not renew his contract with the club, a lot of former Arsenal players have gone on to give their opinion on his decision.
A majority of those players have stated that the striker needs to stick around at the club, while others claim that the North London club should sell him and try and profit off of his sale.
Keown is of the opinion that the Dutch international should avoid making a big mistake and commit his future to the club.
He stated that the fans of the club love the player and that he is unlikely to get the same reception elsewhere.
At the same time, he thinks that the striker is taking the team for granted, as they supported him through a rough time in his career and he is doing the exact opposite.
The former defender is quoted to have said: "[Robin] van Persie is adored by the Arsenal fans, surely he’s not going to leave? pitch”
"I think it would be the wrong move for him to leave."
At the moment, there is a lot of interest in the player from the likes of Juventus and Manchester City.
Both the clubs have gone on to report their interest in the player and have admitted that they would like to sign him on a permanent contract.
However, Arsenal have insisted that even if the player doesn’t want to renew his stay with the team, he is still going to have to see out his contract.
This means that he could play out the coming season with the club, but then leave for free next year.
It is now a wait to see if the club’s captain ends up changing his mind about leaving or not.
