I was wondering the meaning of a speech said by Martin Luther King. "In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends" I was just wondering what exactly he meant by saying that.

  1. I think I means that when in conflict with another it doesn't matter what they said or did because they were against you but if those that were close to you weren't supportive or completely on your side while the conflict was happening then that is what is important because if they were really your friends or whatever then they'd support you and your position no matter what. and EVERYONE IS EQUAL REGARDLESS OF RACE.

  2. basically black people and white people will be together and the black people will forgive and forget i think :S

    x*x

  3. Sorry don't know the answer to this ....just been thinking about it....I've got an idea what he meant, but I don't want to embarrass myself with a stupid answer....I'm keeping a watch on this question...its a good one!

  4. Martin luthar king ment in that speech that there shall be no more wrath of any race, and finally people can come together as one and not another.

  5. it means that those whites who dont agree with slavery but dont stand up against it, are just as guilty as those who actively carry out slavery.

    I think....

  6. it means black people are lower than white ppl i think...

    just the way of life

  7. I would imagine He meant; 'may God protect me from my friends, since I am aware of my enemies.'

  8. There is what is called in America "The silent majority" , people who do not agree with the way things are, but keep silent about them, thereby allowing injustices and abuses to continue

  9. He meant, that, those speaking out against racial equality would  be forgotten, but those who did not have the courage to stand up for racial equality would certainly be remembered.

I too have a dream. I'm white, but, how long must discrimination continue before we realise that we are all God's children, regardless of what name we give to God?

  10. he meant one of two things, 1 that in the end we would all Be friends and stop the abuse.

or he meant 2 that the so called friends that stand by and do nothing will be remembered when the fight is won.

  11. I dont know but I think it means that you should forget what your enemies say but rember you friends. Sometimes you'r friends can say horrible stuff but you will remeber the silence of them meaning you will forget the horrible in them but remember the bad.
