Martin O’Donnell, John Sutton happy for return of Q School snooker: 2012-13 Snooker Season
Two of the amateur potters, England’s Martin O’Donnell and Ireland’s John Sutton are aiming to make an impact in the upcoming 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) starting right after the 2012 World Snooker Championship.
The pair is quite excited about the qualification tournament which allows amateur potters to prove their class in the professional tour. The first Q School event was organised last year at the World Snooker Championship which featured 12 amateur cueists
and gave them an opportunity to play in the professional circuit of 2011-12 Snooker Season and prove their talent.
This year, once again, Barry Hearn has launched the Q School to select 12 players again who will be awarded pro tickets for 2012-13 and 2013-14 Snooker Seasons. Both O’Donnell and Sutton are quite excited about the return of the event where they will try
their best to get the tour card and play on professional level.
Speaking to the World Snooker about Q School, O’Donnell said, “Now comes the hard part as my goal now is to get through Q School. Last year I got to the final round of the last event and lost to Kurt Maflin, I didn't do much wrong and he played brilliantly
on the day. Hopefully I'm a better player now and I can hit form at the right time for Q School.”
Sutton, on the other hand, added, “Q School is a fantastic opportunity and it will be the first time I have played in it. I'll be doing a lot of practice before then and hopefully I will be much sharp. Plus it's a two -year exemption this time which is even
better.”
Both potters qualified for the World Snooker Q School after reaching the final encounter of the 2012 SnookerBacker Classic event. The SnookerBacker Classic final was clinched by the 25-year-old O’Donnell who ousted Sutton by the whitewash score line of 4-0.
Meanwhile, the stage is set for the upcoming 2012 Q School where amateurs from around the world will be provided with a golden chance to earn a place in the professional events along with world’s top guns of snooker. The event will commence at the World
Snooker Academy in Sheffield from May 13, 2012.
