Martin O’Donnell happy after winning pro tour card through World Snooker Q School
After a tremendous performance in the World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School), England’s Martin O’Donnell has successfully earned a place in the professional snooker circuit for the next two seasons. The Englishman showed a great deal of determination
throughout the first event of Q School and was able to make his dream of playing in the professional circuit come true.
The Q School Event 1 produced some outstanding snooker competitions at the baize where rookies from around the world took part to grab a place in the pro tour.
O’Donnell entered the World Snooker Academy arena in Sheffield, the city of snooker, with hopes to make an appearance and clinch a place in the top four potters who will book a spot in the qualifying session of all major ranking snooker tournaments of next
two years. O’Donnell qualified for Q School after he clinched the Snookerbacker Classic event.
While speaking to World Snooker after qualifying for pro tour, O’Donnell said, “It hasn't sunk in yet, but it has been my dream to play on the main tour since I was 12 years old. It has taken me longer than I had hoped, but I have got a crack at it now for
two years. I'm under no false pretences about how tough it will be, but I believe I have a strong all-round game and I am good enough for the tour.”
He added, “I will need to hit the ground running and to improve in every aspect. It's tough to get on the tour and probably twice as tough to stay on. I have practised with Martin Gould for 11 years and what he has done is an inspiration.”
With a classy snooker display in the quarter-final stage of the event, the Englishman was able to beat Australia’s Adrian Ridley by the score line of 4-1. Winning the two-year pro ticket was indeed a success for the Londoner and he is quite thrilled to be
a part of the tour where he will be facing major names of the game. He must pull up his socks to get ready for even bigger challenges ahead in the pro tour.
