Martin O’Neill overwhelmed by support, David Vaughan welcomes new Sunderland boss
New Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill revealed he was overwhelmed by the support he had received in his first match as the Black Cats manager. The Irish manager managed a victory in his first match against Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385, which has made him an instant
hit at the Stadium of Light.
O’Neill said in an interview:
“It was overwhelming. Naturally I was taken. I’m delighted to be here and I hope I’m here for some considerable time – if I am it means we’ll be doing well.”
Meanwhile, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, O’Neill has managed
to collect many admirers in a short period of time.
Vaughan said while speaking to reporters:
“The new manager has come in and given us back some belief. he wants us to enjoy playing football. That helped us.”
According to Vaughan, who was amongst the scorers for Sunderland against Blackburn Rovers, O’Neill had brought belief back to a crumbling side. It was because of his methods in training and general attitude, which had helped Sunderland secure the highly
important win.
He continued:
“Training has been good. We have been having shorter, sharper sessions. It has just been aimed at trying to get everyone playing football again.”
"He believes in the players he has got here and that gives us self-belief and confidence."
Vaughan signed for Sunderland in the summer of 2011 on a three year deal from relegated side Blackpool. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 international got a chance to make his debut for the Black Cats on the opening day of the season and so far has gone on to make nine appearances
in all competitions.
He was linked with a return to struggling Blackpool in the January transfer window on a loan move, but since Vaughan seems to be doing well at Sunderland, the move seems highly unlikely. While he was at Blackpool last season, the midfielder made 35 appearances
in all competitions and scored two goals.
