Martin Perez ready to pitch for Texas Rangers – MLB News
The Texas Rangers' Minor League pitcher Martin Perez is ready to start his big league debut on Friday.
Rangers’ top management has pulled out Scott Feldman from their starting rotation due to his consistent poor performances.
“It’s disappointing, I had an opportunity to help the team. I was trying my best, but I had a bad game. It was a frustrating game. Hopefully, I can finish strong and help out in the bullpen,” said Feldman and explained how he is feeling after dropping out from the rotation.
Perez however, was playing well in the Minor League and gained his team’s trust. He will start on Friday against Seattle Mariners and if he shows starts with high energy and performs well, he might be given a permanent role in the Rangers’ rotation.
“He’s been very aggressive, He’s been showing tremendous improvement. We’re going to give him an opportunity,” Rangers' manager Ron Washington said of Perez and his next assignment with the big team in Texas.
“I felt happy, because (starting) is what I know They gave me a shot in the bullpen, and I did good. Now, I have to keep doing good,” said Perez through an interpreter and explained in detail about his new role in the Texas Rangers.
As soon as this news was disclosed in the media that Feldman will not be part of Rangers’ rotation, some experts started to speculate in the media and linked his potential absence with his recent performances.
Having an ERA of 5.32 and poor 6-11 win-loss record certainly suggests that his focus is out and he needs some other role in the team.
Later it was also revealed that the Rangers' management now has decided to give him a reliever’s role which might help him getting his momentum back.
On the other hand, Feldman’s replacement, Perez is a highly talented player and knows how critical his stay will be in the Rangers’ starting rotation.
He will join the Rangers for his own good as well. Coming from a very strong college-baseball structure, Perez also knows as how he should play in the Major League to maintain a permanent role in the rotation.
