Martin Rogan calls out Tyson Fury for Irish title in late 2011 – Boxing news
Former Commonwealth heavyweight title-holder Martin Rogan has called out the new British and Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury for the Irish title later in 2011.
The unbeaten Irish-English pugilist Tyson Fury, who recently shrugged off the Del Boy, Dereck Chisora, via unanimous points’ decision, has already declared he wants to have the European and the Irish titles before he goes up for a mega clash against the
IBF, IBO, WBO, WBA and Ring Magazine’s Heavyweight Champion of the world, Wladimir Klitschko.
The 40-year-old Irish Entertainer, Rogan, believes his bout with Fury will be a mega showdown which is worth selling out the Odyssey Arena in Belfast. Rogan claimed people desperately want this bout and he told it to Fury’s promoter as well.
“I told Mick Hennessey that a fight between me and Tyson would sell out the Odyssey Arena in Belfast; it’s the type of fight the public is crying out for,” said Rogan.
He added, “We could throw the Irish and Celtic titles in for good measure – it could be one of the greatest Irish heavyweight fights in history.”
Rogan, who has won 12 of his 14 professional fights including 6 by the way of a knockout, has been linked with a shot at the European Union title since long but the Irishman is still willing to take on Fury, as he wants to see him off in a highly anticipated
bout in front of his home crowd.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “If the price was right, I would get in with Tyson instead of the EU bout. The public would welcome the opportunity to see two Irish heavyweight fighters meet for the British, Commonwealth, Irish and Celtic titles
all at once.”
Let’s see whether Fury agrees for a potential bout with Rogan or not as Wladimir Klitschko also wants to have a fight with Fury.
