Martin Skrtel confident Liverpool can be successful under manager Kenny Dalglish
Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel revealed that he believed that the Reds manager Kenny Dalglish would lead the club to winning ways.
Dalglish took over the caretaker manager at Anfield in early January after Roy Hodgson was sacked mid-season.
After a notable improvement in the Liverpool squad, it was decided that Dalglish should be given the manager’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 on a permanent basis.
On 12th May 2011, Dalglish was once again confirmed as the manager of Liverpool on a three-year deal, having previously coached the club in 1985-1991.
The 26-year-old Liverpool centre-back revealed the Scotsman had played an important part in lifting the dejected squad and leading them to a sixth place finish in the Premier League.
Earlier on in the season, Liverpool were not even expected to finish in the top half of the table, with their performances getting worse with every game.
Not only did they underperform in the English Premier League, the Reds failed to impress in the Europa League as well.
However, Dalglish’s appointment seemed to bring the Reds back to life and they managed to finish on the sixth spot on the table.
Skrtel revealed Dalglish had a lot to do with Liverpool’s resurgence late in the season, he said while speaking to reporters:
“Kenny gave us our confidence back. His first game was against Manchester United in the cup. Our first meeting with him took place that weekend and he said we had to trust him because he trusted us.
He told us the most important thing was a good team spirit and if we played together we could get some success. He has kept our confidence high and that has been the most important thing.”
Skrtel admitted he did not know too much about Dalglish and his previous spell with Liverpool, but revealed he was learning.
According to the 26-year-old Slovakian, the appointment of Dalglish as manger would benefit the club greatly.
He continued:
“Appointing him (permanently) was definitely the best option. I'm happy because he is a nice person and a great manager. I can see the future under him being very good.”
Skrtel is not the only one who is confident Dalglish will lead the Reds to success in the future, starting with the upcoming season.
Vice-captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728 had similar views while speaking to reporters a few days back, the English defender was confident the Reds would go on to win trophies under Dalglish.
While Liverpool have not managed to qualify for any European competition this season, they will be looking to reassert their dominance domestically.
The last time http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 won the domestic league was in 1990, before the league was renamed as the English Premier League.
