Martin Snedden RNZ CEO Comment: Creating an event that lives long:

Rugby World Cup which is scheduled to take place in New Zealand next year will be remembered by many and will live long in their memories. Rugby New Zealand CEO Martin Snedden is obstinate that the best way the Kiwis can enjoy the Tournament and make it a success is to support all 20 countries taking part.

Few weeks ago Martin Snedden was interviewed by Eugene Henderson. Eugene is a writer who lives in England and works for Metro International, a weekly journal read by millions of people around the world. At one point during the interview he asked me if the Kiwis are really going to deal with the things if the ‘All Blacks’ fail to reach the next round or qualify for the finals. He suggested that from an outsiders view it would seem to be a real risk if the All Blacks “fail”, the mood of the whole nation will turn sour and the whole event will be a thwarting flop.

“The Kiwis interested in the event naturally will be keen to see the All Blacks win the World Cup and bring the Cup home. The All Blacks have an advantage over other teams, they have a benefit of home town and full support and we shouldn’t feel introverted in supporting them,” said Martin Snedden. “A balance exercise is taking place here as on one hand we have to support our team and on the other hand we are the ones to host the event. We have to clear ourselves of one thing that there are 20 teams taking part in the RWC 2011, not one. 48 matches will be played between them. Each team will mostly play seven matches. Even If the All Blacks win all the seven matches, still we have to host 41 matches. Therefore we Kiwis need to cog ourselves to look after the visiting teams and their supporters with same concern and keenness as we would give to a guest.”

If you are planning to take part in the World Cup, it is best to start planning in advance to make sure that you get the tickets and accommodations without any problem before they all sell out. The matches are schedule to hold in 12 different cities throughout New Zealand namely Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington. It all comes to point, which team you want to see and thus you should be familiar with their schedule; where the teams next match is going to take place so that you could book an accommodation nearby. After all if you favor the England Team which is going to play at Dunedin then it will be best for you to take a room on the North Island as it will be near the stadium and will help you avoid a lot of travelling.

As the clock is ticking, tension has started to grow among the fans as well as the teams. People from all around the globe are planning to see the World Cup and support their team. It would be a cracking tournament as the top teams go head-to-head with each other for the most prestigious title of all.
