Martin Whitmarsh: Formula 1 has more digital information than Tennis and Football – Formula 1 news
McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh has stated that Formula 1 is one of the biggest global sports and it must take advantage of that to sustain its position among other sports in the world.
Whitmarsh stated that the technicalities of the Formula 1 sport are much more than that of Tennis and Football, the other two global sports. He said that F1 should use every means of media to relay that information to gather viewership all across the globe.
Although Formula 1 is one of the most watched sports in the world, yet its existence is the one talked about. Recently the controversy of News Corporation sell out and James Murdoch company wanting to get their hands on the entire sport has provoked Whitmarsh
to say that Formula 1 can still sustain its image by relaying more information live.
Whitmarsh stated that television broadcast is no longer the only media to present races and Formula 1 should step ahead to relay the race on modern technologies.
“Media is much more complex these days. If you take the young generation, they don’t just watch television - they probably have the TV on, then they have probably something different running on their iPad or on their phone or laptop,” commented Whitmarsh.
The Brit also stated that the fourth generation media will have television on mobile sets so Formula 1 needs to take steps to bring out the best of information on the latest technology available.
Whitmarsh further added that Formula 1 has more information than Tennis and Football which should be relayed in order to secure the future of the sport.
He said, “Formula One is a world sport and it is data-rich, and in this digital arena we can populate this digital environment with much more data and information than tennis, soccer or any other sport, so I think it is a huge opportunity that we have.”
Let’s see to what an extent Formula 1 develops itself and broadcasts the information for the viewers all across the world.
