Martin Whitmarsh admires Jenson Button’s professional attitude – Formula 1 news
McLaren team principal, Martin Whitmarsh has admired the attitude of their driver, Jenson Button who showed patience even after facing difficulties with the car’s setup during 2012 Spanish Grand Prix held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
Button is currently at 6th position in the drivers’ standings with 45 points. Moreover, he is 3 points behind Mark Webber of Red Bull and 4 points ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes. Furthermore, he took an amazing victory in the season opener held at Albert
Park in Melbourne, Australia which is his best performance in the season so far.
The British driver struggled with the tyres and the setup of MP4-27 during the Spanish GP in which he could only secure 10th position in the grid after the qualifying and came 9th in the race.
Whitmarsh expressed that Button had a very hard weekend in Barcelona but he showed an impressive attitude and managed to score 2 points even though he faced issues in the car.
“I think Jenson again had a very difficult weekend,” Whitmarsh said. “From having been on top of the balance and being very quick in Friday practice when all was easy, he was challenged in trying to understand what was going on over the rest of the weekend.
In the circumstances it's very easy to get frustrated with the situation, but I think he showed what a great professional he is by scoring valuable points and in this championship a few points is absolutely vital.”
On the other hand, he asserted that he is very much confident that their car is competent enough of winning the 2012 F1 World Championship. He added that they will try to bring out the best in them to make the necessary developments and the essential preparations
so as to improve the pace of their car for the forthcoming races in order to challenge for the title.
The Woking-based team is presently standing at second place in the constructors’ rankings with 98 points. Additionally, they are 11 points behind the defending champions, Red Bull Racing and 14 points ahead of Lotus.
Over and above, with the perfect blend of expertise and talented pair of world champion drivers, they are surely one of the most favourite contenders for this year’s championship.
