Martin Whitmarsh admits his frustration with the season results so far – Formula 1 news
Martin Whitmarsh admits that he is frustrated over McLaren’s failure to dominate the season so far.
McLaren won the opening race of the season the Australian GP as Jenson Button displayed the pace of the McLaren car. Since though the team has not been able to add to the win or show the dominance that was being expected of them but rather seems to be amidst
a number of teams fighting for the world title.
Whitmarsh said that McLaren have clearly not won enough races as he would have liked to see and as much as it has the potential of winning.
“I'm not slightly frustrated, I'm very frustrated! But that's good for the show I guess,” Whitmarsh told a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes phone-in. “I think we've got a reasonable car and we've got two great drivers so looking back on it I feel we should have
had more success than we've had. We've been competitive or thereabouts in most races, I think it turned out we were very uncompetitive in the race in Bahrain but I think that's one of the challenges. So, massively frustrating but that's again a great challenge.”
Whitmarsh added that the team will focus on the positives for the race and look forward to the opportunity at hand. Both the drivers have the potential to come up with a win and the team overall can achieve the constructors’ championship.
Whitmarsh said that a win at Monaco is very important for the team as it would put them right back on top. Everyone goes through a bit of frustration in life but it is not going to effect the team’s preparations for the Monaco GP.
It will be interesting to see if McLaren can come up with a win at the Monaco track. It will be an exciting race as most teams are looking to get ahead in the fierce competition that has been going on this season. The Top five drivers are so close together
in points that any one of them can get ahead of the rest with a win.
