Martin Whitmarsh delighted at Hamilton’s performance in 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh is delighted with Lewis Hamilton’s performance in the recently held Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Whitmarsh talked to the media and said that he thinks the 2011 Abu Dhabi race was an important one for Hamilton. He added that the Brit was strong throughout the race weekend after coming into it in a good frame of mind.
The Woking-based outfit boss also mentioned that he knows both of his drivers Hamilton and Jenson Button are well enough at the moment and that he is sure they will want to be the driver who comes out of the 2011 Formula 1 season with four wins.
In addition, he stated that he believes they will both fancy their chances of winning in the last round of the ongoing season in Brazil.
Whitmarsh commented, “We’ll remember that win for the Lewis we know and love, and I think he really enjoyed it. It was for Lewis to reset where he is, and where he is at in his head. It means both drivers have three great wins apiece this year, and I'm sure
both of them think they can make it four by the end of the season.”
The team driver Hamilton is disagreed with Whitmarsh’s remarks about the end of the season. He added that it is fact and definitely both of them want to win, but it does not matter whether Button or he get it. In addition, he mentioned that they are still
aiming to end the championship in the positive manner.
On the other hand, the teammate Button said that for him it is totally irrelevant whether Hamilton has finished ahead of him because he knows both of the drivers want to win the Championship.
The Brit added, “It's not too bad to have an off year considering I've been racing since I was eight years old, and considering the stuff I've been going through I don't think I've done too bad to be where I am.”
After completing 18 rounds of the season until now, the McLaren driver Button is placed at the second position with 255 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship, while the teammate Hamilton is at the fifth position with 227 points in the standings at the
moment.
