Martin Whitmarsh feels pleased with the developments in MP4-27 – Formula 1 news
Martin Whitmarsh, the team principal of McLaren feels pleased with the developments the team has made in this year’s car MP4-27.
McLaren with their pair of drivers, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton are leading the championship so far with 55 points and they are determined to stay at the front as the 2012 Formula 1 season heads towards China.
Moreover, Button took a remarkable victory in the season opener while his teammate, Hamilton has been showing quite consistent performance and secured third podium in both the races held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia and Sepang International Circuit
in Malaysia.
Besides, Hamilton has aimed at securing reasonable points in every race and to perform with consistency in the season ahead. Furthermore, Hamilton struggled in the last year as he could not manage to keep a balance in his personal and professional life.
Nonetheless, he said that he is ready to make the necessary sacrifice in his private life to improve his performance in this season.
Whitmarsh said that they cannot wait to make the essential improvements in the car as every other contender will be making the necessary developments ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix which is to be held at Shanghai International Circuit on April 15, 2012.
“A 150th pole for the team would be a great result but a lot of things can happen before then,” he told Sky Sports News. “China comes after a three-week gap and all of the teams will be pressing to improve their cars, including ourselves, and it's as simple
as that: if someone has improved their car more than us then they could come out of the box even quicker than us in China.”
Afterwards, he said that he is extremely delighted with the improvements made by his team after the Malaysian GP.
“We're not complacent. We have to improve our car, we have to find performance improvements - and fortunately we have,” he said.
It will be important to mention here that McLaren team has been keeping itself out of the debate on the issue of legality of Mercedes F-duct design.
However, on the other hand, teams including the defending champions, Red Bull Racing and Lotus have been keep on posing questions to FIA in order to seek further clarifications on the matter.
