Martin Whitmarsh feels positive about 2012 Indian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren team principal, Martin Whitmarsh has said that he is feeling positive about 2012 Indian Grand Prix despite facing issues in the last race held at Korea International Circuit.
Lewis Hamilton of the Woking based team could only score one point in the preceding race because of the failure of his anti-roll bar. On the other hand, his teammate, Jenson Button failed to pocket any points as he was unfortunately retired because of his
collision with Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber who lost control over his car at turn 3.
Even though, the British squad could not attain the desired result in the previous race. Nevertheless, Whitmarsh has expressed that they are not feeling upset and are confidently looking forward to score good points in the forthcoming race.
In addition, he said that they are trying their best to make the substantial changes in their car so as to improve its pace for this weekend’s race which is going to be held at Buddh International Circuit and are hoping that both their drivers will secure
competitive positions.
“Of course, luck flows both way, and I’m positive that, after two disappointing races, this next double-header will be a more profitable affair for Jenson, Lewis and the whole team,” he said.
Furthermore, he said that Indian GP can surely become one of the most classic events on F1 calendar because of the huge fan following in the country and the tremendous circuit.
“I think the Indian Grand Prix has the potential to become a classic event on the Formula One calendar - the circuit is well regarded by all the drivers, there is a natural fanbase eager and ready for Formula One and there is terrific market potential within
the entire continent. I am a big believer in the value of the Indian Grand Prix,” he added.
At present, the British team is standing at third place in the constructors’ championship with 284 points. Additionally, they are ahead of Lotus and are just 6 points behind their major rival, Ferrari.
It will be thrilling to see how Hamilton and Button perform in the remainder of the season.
