Martin Whitmarsh says McLaren ready to fight at Spa-Francorchamps next weekend – Formula 1 news
McLaren principal Martin Whitmarsh has said that they are ready to fight in the upcoming 2011 Belgium Grand Prix after coming back from the summer break.
The Belgium race weekend will start from August 26, 2011 at Spa-Francorchamps.
Whitmarsh also mentioned that despite winning three races in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far, they are still very determined to perform strongly in the last eight rounds as compared to initial races of the ongoing season.
The team principal admitted that they are at a crucial stage of the 2011 world championship at the moment. However, he stated that they are ready for the season’s fight and that they are enjoying every race of the ongoing season.
Talking to reporters, Whitmarsh said, “This final stretch of European races will break the back of the calendar, so it’s important that we hit them aggressively and confidently before pushing on into the final fly-a ways.”
He added, “I’m confident that we’ll see the benefit of that at the racetrack: our engineers and strategists are hungry to get back to business, and our mechanics are fit and ready to continue the excellent progress they have been making all season with fast
and reliable work in the garage and the pit lane.”
The Woking-based outfit principal further mentioned that they are feeling very nice to be get back into their MP4-26 car for the remainder of the season. He stated that they are very excited for the next Belgium Grand Prix, as it will happen at the Formula
one’s greatest circuits.
On the other hand, both of the drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button are looking for their successful race in Belgium next weekend.
Hamilton stated that he is very excited to race at the Spa circuit, as it is one of his favourite racetracks in the sport. In addition, he mentioned that the track has high-speed straights and well-known corners. However, he said that he believes the race
will be very interesting in Belgium.
His teammate Button is looking forward to another race victory in the ongoing season after the Hungarian Grand Prix results.
