does anyone know why mlkjr's father changed his name from michael to martin???

ive heard a view versions if any one knows the real truth please help!!!

    Martin Luther King, Jr., (January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968) was born Michael Luther King, Jr., but later had his name changed to Martin.

    He was the first son and second child born to the Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr., and Alberta Williams King.
