Pakistani born Australian player, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729, walked out in the middle after the downfall of the team’s opener. He batted brilliantly and constructed a terrific partnership with Madsen for the third wicket. The pair collected 231 runs for their team,
guiding them to a very strong position.
Madsen was dismissed after scoring 140 runs from 251 balls with the help of 18 fours. He was followed by Khawaja, who amassed 135 runs, striking 16 boundaries. The visitors were 370 for two at one stage and appeared to score a mammoth first innings total,
but the lower-order batsmen failed to make most of the solid start given by the top-order batsmen.
However, Derbyshire still managed to take their score past 450 and were all-out for 460. Ashley Shaw was impressive in the innings, taking five wickets, but he didn’t get much support from the other bowlers.
