Martina Granstroem seizes Women’s 200m butterfly gold: Day two - 2012 Sette Colli Meet, Italy
Martina Granstroem of Sweden seized gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on second day of the 2012 Sette Colli Meet in Rome, Italy on Friday, June 15.
The Swedish swimmer remained almost full body length ahead of her following swimmer and made her way to the finishing end for gold medal of the discipline. She demonstrated her stupendous efforts in the distant butterfly discipline and made her way to the finishing wall for the title of the event.
She continued her alluring efforts throughout the event and made her way to the finishing end for the crown of the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 08.85.
The champion was trailed by Otylia Jedrzejczak of Poland, who stayed 0.88 seconds apart and sprinted her way towards the finishing end for silver medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 09.73 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Martina Van Berkel of Switzerland, who suffered a deficit of 0.80 seconds from her foregoing finisher and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 10.53 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Silvia Meschiari of Italy, who was almost one body length apart and settled on the finishing end as fourth position holder with the timing of 2 minutes 11.30 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was secured by Yuka Kato of Japan, who stayed 1.05 seconds slower and cruised her way towards the finishing wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 12.35 seconds.
Kato was chased by Emanuela Albenzi of Italy, who stayed 0.10 seconds behind and finished sixth in the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 12.45 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was obtained by Alessia Polieri of Italy, who stayed 0.20 seconds away and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 12.65 seconds.
Polieri was trailed by Yana Martynova of Russia, who finished her swim in eighth best place by posting a time of 2 minutes and 14.33 seconds.
Granstroem was overjoyed with her notable accomplishment in the butterfly discipline and expressed her desire of achieving the same at the forthcoming 2012 London Olympic Games.
