Levante Boss, Juan Ignacio Martinez, did not blame his players after their 3-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano, and thinks the result was harsh on his side.
The Granotes succumbed to a heavy defeat after their hosts managed to score three goals against them.
Actually, only a selected few have managed that score-line against Martinez's men.
It was a result that was harsh according to Martinez. He didn’t criticize his players for the defeat and believes his team did not deserve to lose at least by this score-line.
Martinez admitted that it was difficult to play at Vallecano’s ground. He stated that sometimes things don’t go your way and because of that he is content with what has happened.
“I am content, because Rayo’s stadium is difficult to play at, so it is normal that things have not gone our way, the Vallecas is a fast-paced field.”
Looking back on the match, the Spaniard stated that he was happy with how his team took control of the game. However, he laments the fact that they conceded two goals before they could get anything from the match.
“The match was controlled, I was happy about that, but we have fallen two goals behind before we could react and so it cost us a lot in then going up against a team like Rayo.”
The tactician defended his players and denied that Levante relaxed and took their eyes off the ball during the match.
“I do not think any of my players were on vacation early, though.”
Reflecting on how things have gone down, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 believes Rayo managed to take advantage of their chances when it mattered while his team could not. Regardless, he insists the outcome of the match doesn’t give a true picture of how things have prevailed
on Thursday night.
“Rayo has won because they did things right at peak times, and that has been a harsh punishment.”
The defeat to Rayo is a setback to Levante search for a second consecutive season in Europe.
Now they have slipped to the 6th position in the Primera Division standings and are 1 point adrift of 4th placed Malaga.
