Wigan Athletic manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 not to move to Spain after the player was linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Tottenham and Wigan will lock horns at White Hart Lane today, and Martinez has given his opinion about Tottenham’s star player ahead of the game.
Bale has been in fine form this season, and has attracted interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid following his impressive performances for both club and country over the past two seasons.
The Welshman had been linked with a move away from the club in the summer, especially after former midfield star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 became strongly linked to Madrid. The player however settled all speculation when he extended his contract with Spurs and pledged
his future to the club.
Martinez is wary of Bale’s goal scoring threat ahead of today’s fixture, but has advised the player against a move to La Liga, saying that it would have an adverse impact on his career.
The Spanish manager believes that the Spanish game will be a drastic change for the star and he will experience limited playing time there. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“A real compliment for him is people are talking about him signing for Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604. Only a handful of players carry that status and he is one.”
“Look at his two performances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Croatia-c2879 and you could see he was a step ahead of the other 21 players on the pitch."
“But it’s hard to tell whether a move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 would help him improve. Sometimes going to a club we consider as bigger will be healthy. But if you take on a lesser role instead of being the main man it doesn’t work.”
Martinez went on to praise Bale’s pace and direct playing style. However, he thinks that the Spanish League will not suit the player, and his pace and directness are better utilized in the Premier League.
Bale is the player to watch out for in today’s clash at White Hart Lane, and is a good bet to feature on the score sheet as Tottenham look to recover from their 2-4 defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 last month.
