The former Swansea City boss has admitted that his side’s upcoming Premier League game is extremely important, and they will try their level best to claim all three points at home.
Wigan Athletic head coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Martinez, has expressed confidence ahead of his side’s upcoming English Premier League game against Southampton at the DW Stadium on Saturday, February 2.
The Latics are heading into the game on the back of a hard fought 2-2 draw against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday. The visiting side came from two goals behind to end the game in a stalemate following an impressive second-half performance.
Wigan are currently sitting 18th in the Premier League standings, level on points with the 17th placed Reading. With 14 games left to play in the ongoing 2012/13 campaign, the Latics have a bright chance of avoiding relegation to Npower
Championship.
The 39-year-old tactician has urged his troops to put in a strong display in their upcoming game against the Saints at home if they are to prolong their stay in the highest echelons of English football.
“It’s a vital game for us. We know we’re playing against a good footballing side with strong players, but we’re playing at home and the manner in which we finishing the game at The Britannia Stadium on Tuesday night has put us in a good frame of mind to
face this game with confidence”, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 was quoted as saying to the club’s official website.
Southampton have played impressive football since the appointment of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mauricio-c24899 Pochettino, who took over the managerial hot seat from Nigel Adkins, on January 18.
And the Latics boss has admitted that his side will face a stern test in their upcoming game at the DW Stadium.
“Under their new manager, Southampton have played with a real air of bravery looking impressive against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 in the first-half and then at Old Trafford even more so. They’ve kept all the good elements to them that they brought to the Premier League this
season, with players developing more in their individual roles”, Martinez concluded.
Wigan Athletic will be gunning to bag all three points at home to enhance their chances of finishing the season at a respectable position.
