It was claimed that Javi http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 broke into Athletic Bilbao’s training ground on Sunday night to obtain his belongings and the young player has denied the claims.
Martinez has denied the reports that state that he broke into Athletic Bilbao’s training ground, and tweeted on the matter on Tuesday stating, “It is incredible that there are people who believe this story is correct.”
A statement by Martinez was also taken by Bayern’s press office in which the young Spaniard stated that he was allowed to enter the building and that there was no way in which it can be classified as a break-in.
“I got there by 11PM and they opened the doors perfectly normally. There is no way you can call it a break-in.”
On Wednesday, all the Spanish and Basque papers stated that Martinez was present at the former club's training ground unannounced at midnight last Sunday.
They also reported that the gates to the training ground were locked and that he had to climb over a six foot high fence in order to enter into the public car-park, where the ground’s private security guard confronted the defender.
It was further reported that Javi showed the guard his ID card and since the dressing-room was unlocked, the defender could go and pick up a few of his belongings.
Bilbao have issued no official statements about the incident, however, club sources told El Correo, a Bilbao newspaper, that the incident occurred after midnight and that they would have preferred if Martinez had phoned them in advance to say that he was
going to pick up his belongings.
The private security company employed by Athletic Bilbao have told the newspaper that the guard acted in a correct manner to stop the player as there have been numerous reports of burglary attempts at Lezama recently.
This is just another addition to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and Germany’s latest soap opera. Athletic’s president was very stubborn when Bayern Munich were trying to settle Martinez’s transfer through negotiations, which resulted in the most expensive Bundesliga signing to date.
Osasuna have also, somehow, managed to get involved in the soap opera by claiming that Bilbao owe them 800,000 Euros because of the transfer that has been made between the Basque club and the Germans.
Whether more drama is to continue cannot be confirmed, but what we know for sure is that the whole Martinez issue has been blown out of proportion.
