Wigan Athletic manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on the opening day of the Premier League season.
Having avoided the drop this past season, Wigan will be looking to improve on their form and performance this coming term.
The team went on to have a very strong finish to the season, with the Latics winning five of their last eight games, which proved to be the key to them surviving relegation.
However, they are now going to be looking to continue from where they left off, as they look to have a positive start against Chelsea.
What the team has working for them, is the fact that they will be playing the opening game at the DW Stadium and this is going to calm the players nerves to a certain extent. At the same time, with Chelsea’s squad currently being rebuilt, the team might
not be able to perform to the best of their abilities.
When talking about the upcoming game, the Spanish manager is quoted to have said: “Fixtures day is always one of the highlights of the calendar and we have been handed a really exciting opening again, with the Champions League winners at the DW. It is going
to be a fascinating start."
The manager is still ready for a huge challenge ahead of him and has admitted that the coming months won’t be very easy. Despite this fact, he feels that if his team is ready to face these challenges, then nothing can hold them back.
Martinez added: "It's a cliche but every team is competitive at this level, and we need to be ready for another huge challenge over the coming months.”
Earlier in the transfer window, Martinez was reportedly on the brink of joining http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 as their new manager. However, with him not agreeing with the club’s owners, he ended up returning to Wigan.
At the moment, he is one of the managers who is being linked with a potential move to Tottenham, but with his focus solely set on guiding Wigan forward, it is safe to assume that he won’t be leaving the club in the near future.
