The Bayern Munich manager has hinted that new signing Javi Martinez may get his first start for the club in the upcoming game against FSV Mainz.
The Bavarian giants will host http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 in their next Bundesliga fixture at the Allianz Arena and will be looking to claim their third straight win in the league this season. The Reds have won their previous two fixtures against
Greuther Furth and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 and are currently on the top of the Bundesliga standings table with six points.
The Munich based outfit made one of the most high profile acquisitions in recent times when they secured the signature of Javi http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 this summer. A reported fee of €40 million was paid to Spanish side Athletic Bilbao for the
transfer and the player became Bayern Munich’s record signing.
The Spanish international made a cameo appearance in the 6-1 thumping of Stuttgart, but is expected to make his first full start for his new club this weekend.
Jupp Heynckes admitted that he has quite a few options in midfield and stated that he will have to assess all his options before he makes a decision. He claimed that the side also has a crucial fixture against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 in the UEFA
Champions League coming up so a lot of factors have to be taken into account.
“I'm not going to make that decision just yet. The line-up depends on a number of factors. First, I'll have to check out the internationals when they come back. Then I have to consider how we want to play against Valencia the following
Wednesday. But we have quite a few options,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The manager praised Martinez as a brilliant player and admitted that the midfielder has settled in well at his new side.
“Javi is outgoing and communicative, a relaxed character and a guy everyone likes straight away. He also speaks relatively good English, and he can speak Spanish to a few of the other players, which makes things a little easier
for him,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich are favourites to win the league this time around, but they face some stiff competition from Borussia Dortmund.
