is the only flaw with this system the bankroll? do people make good money using it? if i do it with blackjack and have enough banroll for 11 hands, would that be enough. that is $1022. (starting at $1) it seems that the only reason it doesnt work is people get greedy

  1. The primary flaw of the Martingale is not people having insufficient bankrolls, it's the table limits. A typical Las Vegas strip table game (blackjack, roulette, craps, etc) will have about a $10 minimum and $5,000 maximum. That means if you run a Martingale progression, you will only last 9 bets before hitting the table maximum. Anyone who's never lost 9 hands in a row playing any table game hasn't played much. And I can guarantee you that most of the time you will not even come close to doubling up your bankroll before you hit that losing streak.

  2. I agree with what has been said, I really don't think you will find any table with the limits you would have to play with the Martingale system and you loose the oportunity to double down or split (which is a great tool in your continual mathimatical battle with the house).  Learn to play solid black jack and, and if really interested, learn to count (counting only gives y ou a very slight extra edge, and it is a long term edge) that is where you can vary your bets a little.Believe me, there ain't no sure fire way to beat the house, (shy of cheating) if there was, you would no longer see blackjack spread. Good luck.

  3. Martigale does not work.

First you have the fact that no casino will give you a table with a bet range from $1 to $1000. The bet range on tables is such that it is rarely possible to get past 4-5 progressions.

  4. Never ever use the martingale system on a blackjack table. You can use it on american roulette, because you´ll probably never reach more than 5 negative balls in a row.

The system explained in gamblingmethod (dot) com, worked great for me.

  5. The Martinegale system is not the best way to wager at the blackjack table. It is a flawed system and the risk is much greater than the reward.

You mention starting at $1, but no real casino has limits that low. If you play online but you may find a $1 table, but the risk is huge there too. I once played 8 losing hands of blackjack in a row online. Using the Martingale I would be in for $260 (not counting double-downs and splits). Then I would be risking $261 to win $1 of profit. It is just not reasonable.

Blackjack is a streaky game and you can easily go on a bad run of 6-8 hands and kill your bankroll to try and win back your original $1.

My advice is to avoid the Martingale system.

  6. A martingale system will manipulate the odds of winning and losing in such a way that you will experiance vary small wins very often and VERY large losses less often when compared to a flat betting scheme.

That is all it will accomplish for you.  It is ideal if you only intend to say, goto vegas one time in your life and never come back.

If this is not the case and you will say play it every other weekend or on a regular basis, since In the sum of all the trials you will lose more money than a flat betting scheme since your average bets will be higher.

Blackjack is not the ideal game for a martingale system, since the odds of a "net win" are far less than the odds of a "net loss"  The house advantage in blackjack is only so small due to the players ability to make special actions like doubling and plitting, as well as the player getting payed 3:2 for blackjacks, which further complicat a martingale system.

Blakjack tables have minimum bets typicall much higher than 1 dollar making your plan very difficult to act upon.  Maximums arnt realy an issue since the bet you place doesnt have to be at the same table with the one dollar minimum and you could goto a higher limit table or if neccessary a higher limit casino to place your bet.

If you play long enough you will experience losing streaks much higher than 11,  11 is unlikely but certainly not impossible, and in the world of gambling all you need to do is give it enough trials for it to happen.

I personally have played entire shoes and only won two maybe three hands out of the 20+ that were played

  7. Here is the progression...

    1+2+4+8+16+31+64+128+256+512+1024

You will never find a table with limits from $1-$1024 Why would you want to bet 1024 to win $1 anyway?

Casinos will comp you everything you want if you tell them you are planning on using the Martingale because it doesn't work!

  8. There are dangers with any progression betting strategy but if you would like a more in depth discussion on the martingale strategy

  9. The Martingale system cannot be effectively applied at casinos due to the table limits. But the whole system is ridiculous, why risk all that money to win a minimum bet?

If you want to try a system, try the Blackjack Betting Trigger.

It works with a high probability at multideck and is a multiple return strategy.
