Marussia aiming for tenth place on the constructors’ grid – Formula 1 news
Marussia’s team principal, John Booth, says that the team is aiming to secure the tenth place on the constructors’ grid as they head to the Brazilian Grand Prix which marks the end of the 2012 season.
“As reluctant as we were to leave Austin after a very enjoyable debut race weekend at the Circuit of The Americas, we head to Brazil with a lot of eager anticipation,” Booth said. “It is a favoured race destination for the team and there is a lot riding
on the weekend across the whole sport. We are obviously fighting our own battle for 10th in the Constructors' Championship, but while we still need a strong weekend, where we are today and what we have achieved thus far should not be overlooked.”
Booth told that the team had held this particular position during the first five races of the season and then reclaimed it by gradually improving since the mid of the season. He said that the team has been holding the position for the last six races and
want to make it their final standing by the end of the race at Interlagos. He told that there is much optimism among the team members regarding their progress and he thinks that this can be the beginning of some positive changes for the Marussia team.
While the Caterham driver, Heikki Kovalainen, had stated that his team is stronger than Marussia, Booth said that they had proved after the United States GP that their team is better as both Marussia cars had qualified ahead of them in the qualifying last
Saturday.
Marussia driver, Timo Glock, has stated that anything can be expected from the last race. He admitted that it is unbelievable that yet another season is coming to an end. He said that the Brazilian GP is always an exciting race so they can expect much action
up and down the track, especially at the front with the championship fight.
Glock stated that the team is looking forward to a positive finish and since the last few races, the team’s only aim has been to hold on to their current position.
