Marussia driver Timo Glock expects to be fit for the race at Silverstone – Formula 1 news
Timo Glock is expecting to be totally fit ahead of the Silverstone Grand Prix.
The Marussia driver was unwell before the European Grand Prix and was not able to take part in the race. He did however take part in the practice on Friday but his condition deteriorating during FP3 and he had to withdraw for the rest of the weekend.
The reason behind his withdrawal was an intestinal infection but he has said that he is recovering well and expects to be able to resume training in a few days time.
Glock will feel disappointed for not being able to take part in the Valencia race as the race produced some unpredictable results. There were a few retirements and the cars with the best tyre strategies and management did well. He could have fancied his
chances of getting a favourable result.
The season though is not over yet and the Marussia driver will look to be up and ready for the British Grand Prix challenge.
“Generally I am feeling well again,” Glock said. “I still feel a bit weak at the knees, but otherwise I am okay. It was obviously a pity that I was forced to miss the race in Valencia, but that is the way it goes sometimes. You cannot just ignore such physical
signs. I am on my way to a full recovery, and although it will be a few more days before I am allowed to train again.”
Glock has also confirmed that he was likely to be facing a tough and busy schedule but hopes that he can be deemed fit prior to the race.
“I am now looking forward to the upcoming weeks. Included on the programme is my home race with my Marussia F1 Team, which means it will be a busy and demanding period with lots of events and activities. However, by then I should be totally fit again,” he
added.
It will be interesting to see how Glock fares at Silverstone. The Grand Prix is scheduled for Sunday, July 8, 2012. Marussia will be looking to be able to score some points to at least be able to finish in the top ten of the constructors’ championship which
is very possible given the unpredictable nature of the season.
