Former Sri Lankan Skipper and current batting coach, Marvan Atapattu, has said that there is a huge gap between the batting capability of senior batsmen like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779, as compared to the rest of the batsmen
in the national team.
"Just because a batting coach has been given to a national side it doesn't mean you are going to be No. 1 tomorrow, "Atapattu told ESPNcricinfo.
"We've got to work ourselves up and at the same time the batsmen that we have, the two senior-most are one hundred times better than the others. They have been the best for a number of years in the top five," he expressed.
Atapattu has been recently appointed as Sri Lanka’s new batting coach and his first assignment is the tour of England.
He accepted that there is need for improvement in the Sri Lankan batting lineup. He further insisted that putting players under more work load will bring out the best in them, however, he does not wish to put himself or the players
under too http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-James-Muchall-c60376 pressure.
Atapattu, who had taken part in 90 Test matches and 268 One Day Internationals (ODIs), said that it was vital to maintain an inflow of ideas and consistently innovate in order to extract the best from every player.
The batting coach added that as a unit, they need to use individuals wisely. He clarified that coaching is not only about training the batsmen, but it is about knowing their routines and choosing what is best for their personalities.
