  1. Both companies have their good and bad.

In story quality, characters, and what not it's really a matter of personal taste.

    From Marvel:

    - I would say the X-Men. But only written by certain individuals i. e. Chris Claremont, Grant Morrison, Joss Whedon

    - Frank Miller's work on Daredevil was great

    From DC:

    - The Sinestro Corps vs the Green Lantern Corps was really good

    - Frank Miller's work on Batman was great

    - Teen Titans during the 70s, 80s and early 90s

    - The Legion of Super-Heroes used to be good before 96-97, and before all the c**p that pretty much ruined the book IMO.

    - Justice League Unlimited the cartoon series was one of the few really well written super hero cartoons I have seen in a LONG time. The whole Cadmus story line arc was awesome.

    - Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker the unedited version was great. It even explained what happened to one of the Robins.

    - Justice League New Frontier was also pretty good.

I usually buy from independent companies, though.

Alan Moore's V for Vendetta, the Watchmen and the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen are some of the best written comic books I have ever read. They have even won awards and are getting/ have their own movies.

Frank Miller's work on Sin City and 300 were good.

Pretty much anything that Warren Ellis does is awesome like -Stormwatch: Team Achilles, the Authority, Planetary (probably the best of the bunch), Transmetropolitan, etc.

The Elementals and Fables by Bill Willingham are really good.

Grendel by Matt Wagner was good.

Neil Gaiman's work on Sandman was good.

    Kabuki was good.

    WildC.A.T.s was good.

    Strikeforce: Morituri was good.
